Various international organizations including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and observers from several countries have commented that the 12th National Parliament elections were free, fair and peaceful. These invited foreign observers appreciated the atmosphere of the recently concluded elections in Bangladesh.
They made this comment in response to questions from journalists after observing the polls of the national elections at a hotel in the capital on Sunday evening. The press conference was organized by the government and attended by foreign observers at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
Hashim Quhail, the chief election commissioner of Palestine, said that the polls were held peacefully. Apart from this, the voting environment was also very good. Citizens voting process was also very simple.
Chandrakant Arya, Member of Parliament of Canada, said, “The vote has ended smoothly. A record number of women voters attended the polls. We had the opportunity to go to polling stations and talk to people as per our choice. I congratulate the Election Commission for the fair voting process.
In response to a question, Chandrakant Arya said, ‘Those who boycotted voting, it is their business, it is not our business. In Canada too, the vote was 43 percent, no one questioned that. It remains to be seen whether the people can vote or not. More important than the percentage of voters who turned up, those who turned up, cast their votes properly without any problems. Therefore, there is no reason to question the acceptability of this election.
Criticizing the opposition party, Kasaka also said that the government must go if there is to be a participatory election. What does this mean? It is fundamentally an undemocratic process.
Paolo Casaca believes that we must come out of the cycle of violence and sit at the negotiating table for this. He said, those who boycotted the election, they should agree as soon as possible to sit in discussion with everyone. To ensure that there is never an exclusion.
Bangladesh is ahead of many other countries in following a democratic process and it is a good electoral process, commented Paolo Casaca.
